How it all began
In 1969, following the outbreak of civil unrest in Northern Ireland, many concerned members of the public donated money to be used for the comfort of injured members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary. At that time the Representative Body decided that the RUC Benevolent Fund and Management Committee should be set up and conducted along the same lines as similar Funds in the UK police services.

Over the years the Fund has evolved and matured. The RUC Benevolent Fund is now a recognised charity funded by subscriptions from serving police officers, donations from the public, and from our police colleagues throughout the world.
