Every month, the RUC Benevolent Fund Management Committee deals with:
Requests for grants, and requests for interest free loans. The main criterion used by the Committee is 'financial hardship'. The requests come from serving members, retired members and RUC /PSNI widows. Each case is carefully considered by the Committee on its individual merits. Clearly as this is a most sensitive and confidential area, no details will be published on this Internet site.
The Management Committee considers applications to attend the North Region Convalescence Homes. The main criteria is 'convalescence', were the individual will be able to avail of the physiotherapy facilities at the Convalescence Homes.
Unfortunately, as there are now so many applications, the Management Committee has been forced to give priority to people who will actually use the facilities, for physiotherapy. Essentially; this means that people applying with stress or anxiety (who will not use any of the physiotherapy resources), may be no longer supported, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Each month a number of applications are considered. Each application is very carefully and sentistively assessed: taking into consideration; the comments of the GP, the need for physiotherapy, and the number of previous visits.
In future this web site will outline the number of applications in each area and the numbers of such approved by the Management Committee.
