Rathmore Court Apartments

The RUC Benevolent Fund own sixteen holiday apartments in Portrush. They are available on a weekly basis throughout the year, to widows / pensioners and ex members.

The apartments are in two blocks comprising of ground, 1st and 2nd floor accommodation. A lift is fitted to block 1. A disabled apartment is available on the ground floor for three persons and the remaining accommodation is a mix of two and three bedroom apartments for 4, 5, or 6 persons. All apartments are fully fitted and furnished. Smoking is not permitted in 14 out of the 16 apartments. Applicants should ask the administrator for further details when booking.

All persons should fall into one of the following categories.

1. Widows. Widows of members who died in service for whatever reason from 1969 to date. Widows of ex members who died within one year and one day of medical retirement from 1969 to date.
2. Widows with dependant children. As above whose children are aged 19 years and under and are still in education.
3. All others. The balance of all other persons advised by the Fund of their entitlement to apply for apartment places namely pensioner's, pensioner's widows, parents of deceased single officers,members who were medically retired (Injury on Duty) and whose pensions are extinguished by State Benefits and members of the Full Time RUC 'R' and Part Time RUC 'R' who have retired on age limit or been medically retired. In the event of their death, their widow will be eligible.

Booking Procedure

Bookings are only accepted by telephone on 028 9092 2230 and are made on a first come first served basis. The reference umber for booking is your force number or your husband's / wife's / son's / daughter's force number - prefixed with the first letter of your surname.

Bookings can be made on the first working day of each month for the ninth month in advance.

• Apartments during the months of July and August are reserved exclusively for categories 1 and 2 [above.]
• Bookings for category 2 must be made by 30th April.
• On 1st May 2003 the apartments reserved for widows in June, July and August will be released and made available for all categories.
• During the months of May, June and September, eight apartments will be reserved for category 3 [all others].
• One booking will be allowed in a calendar year, i.e. 1st January to 31st December, expect if there are vacancies two weeks prior to the dates requested.
• From October to April there are no reserved places.
